DOIRC

The DOIRC (Drilling Operations Incident Review Committee) meeting is conducted every quarter under the chairmanship of Qatar Petroleum’s Drilling Manager and involves all the oil companies, drilling contractors and drilling service companies in Qatar. The meeting agenda is to review all incidents occurring between the meetings that has lateral learning values. Senior management representation is requested from all companies as this confirms management commitment to safety.

The DOIRC objectives are to review incidents, improve safety performance, promote safety awareness and demonstrate commitment to safety. It also provides an opportunity to promote lateral learning, generate active discussion, share best practices and provide positive feedback

The first meeting was held on March 15th 2001. The meeting has grown under the guidance of Talib Al Murri, Qatar Petroleum’s Drilling Manager and now includes all companies related to the drilling industry in Qatar.

The importance of safety in the work place is stressed and it is emphasised that the DOIRC was formed not to allocate blame but to learn from our incidents to prevent reoccurrence. The ultimate goal is to achieve an incident free workplace. Qatar Petroleum is committed to providing a safe working environment for all employees/contractors and believes in the motto. “If It Is Not Safe, Stop.
