This one-day short course will review the fundamentals and concepts of corrosion and electrochemical protection of materials with particular reference to the oil and gas industry. The focus of the course will be to introduce the processes and relevant aspects of the cathodic protection method. Some real case studies will be used to illustrate relevant cathodic protection systems in oil and gas industry
Who should Attend?
Personnel who are working in technical areas related to materials, maintenance and integrity who deal directly or indirectly with cathodic protection.
Prerequisite
No specific prerequisite courses are required; however participants should have some general technical background.

The following topics will be covered in the course:
History and developments of cathodic protection
Fundamentals of corrosion and electrochemical corrosion protection.
Sacrificial (galvanic ) anodes
Impressed current anodes
Cathodic protection of pipelines
Cathodic protection of well casings
Safety and economic consideration of cathodic protection
